Balsamiq is an interesting screen mock up tool – it is quick and simple to use and edit and has a nice visual style which feels very low fidelity – nice when I just want to discuss an idea.
It isn’t, at this point, aimed at producing high fidelity wireframes, or helping to produce large sets of wireframes but none the less is an interesting tool for exploring and chatting about screen ideas, a digital sketch pad which is resonated by the wireframing styling and by Balsamiq’s interface.
I made the mock up shown in less than 5 minutes for a bit of a test drive and found it to be enjoyable to use. The other nice thing I felt was the ability to export the mock up as xml that I can take with me and import at a later date to carry on.
I’m sure my good friends Mike and Dave will find this very reminiscent to a project we worked on together many years back called Casper.
