Information Architecture for the World Wide Web

Review by Richard Marsh, March 29th 2006

Author: Peter Morville & Louis Rosenfeld

Published: February 1998

Synopsis

With its timing (first edition) this was one of the best IA pioneering books around and provided much needed clarity for many that were already involved in large web sites, and those starting out in this field.

This book covers simply and clearly the following areas;

  • IA Concepts
  • Content
  • Site Structure
  • Navigation Systems

Summary

8 years on and it still has value for those involved in any aspect Information Architecture or User Experience, Interaction Design.

Should be read inconjunction with the Elements of User Experience which brings this area up to date IMHO.
